Why do I have to take this course?
Any requirements related to Financial Literacy 101 are established by your school or sponsoring organization, not Financial Literacy 101.
Many colleges and universities now understand that students are more successful if they can avoid unexpected financial challenges while in school. Studies have shown that financial problems are a leading cause of academic underperformance, including withdrawal from school. Financial Literacy 101 aims to help students avoid financial stress by challenging potentially mistaken expectations about money, teaching the facts needed to successfully manage money (and debt) while in school, and providing personalized feedback on each student's financial knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.
Why some students question why they are asked to participate in Financial Literacy 101, the overwhelming majority of student are glad they did. Over 90% of students report significant learning gains, over 90% of students agree that they completed "a good course," and nearly five out of six students would recommend their course to a friend.
Why is my assignment still marked as "incomplete" on my school's student portal page?
Most schools that manage Financial Literacy 101 participation through your student portal page update the requirement automatically from a list exported from Financial Literacy 101. This is not done in "real time," so there could be a delay of a few days (especially if you complete your assignment over the weekend).
If you completed your assignment longer than a few days ago, it is possible that there was a typo in your student ID that is preventing the requirement from being marked complete. In that case, we suggest calling the office that requires participation or simply drop off a copy of your course completion certificate (you can print one from your Financial Literacy 101 homepage).
Why can't I log in?
Here are three steps that will help you figure out what's going on. We're assuming here that you have already created an account and are having trouble logging in again.
First, most log in issues are due to forgotten passwords. Please try our Password Help tool first. If your email address is in our database, your password will be emailed to you.
Next, if the password tool can't find your email address, it's possible that there was a typo in your email address at registration. If so, please contact us with your email address and password. We will correct your information and email you a confirmation when complete.
Finally, if you are sure that you are using the correct email address and password, your browser may have cookies disabled. Cookies are required for Financial Literacy 101. Cookies may also be disabled if you are using a "private browsing" or similar feature in your browser.
You can search your browser's help feature for "cookies" for instructions on how to enable them or to allow them just for the "www.financialliteracy101.org" web site. The easiest fix is often to simply use a different browser (FireFox, Google Chrome, Safari, or Internet Explorer 8 are recommended). Financial Literacy 101 works with the default configurations of all current browsers.
How do I print a completion certificate?
To print a certificate, log in to your account and click the "Print Certificate" link in the right column of your homepage. If you don't see that link, you may be using a very old version of Internet Explorer. If so, just update it or use another browser.
Where's the "launch" button to resume my course?
The launch button is located in two places - in the right column of your homepage under your course name and under the percent complete pie chart on your Courses page.
If you don't see the launch button on your homepage, you may be using an old version of Internet Explorer - that can sometimes cause problems with the way the site is displayed. We suggest using Internet Explorer Version 8 or higher or simply use another browser. Many sites like YouTube, for example, do not support old versions of Internet Explorer. This enables us to take advantage of the superior capabilities of newer browsers.
How do I raise my grade?
Many schools set minimum passing grades for your Financial Literacy 101 experience. You can raise your grade by retaking missed quiz questions. Here's how to do it:
On the right side of your homepage, there's a box with the course name and other information. Once you finish the course (100% complete), you'll see links for your completion certificate and for retaking missed quiz questions. Simply click the link and retake your missed questions. You can see how your score changes after answering each question correctly.
If you don't see the course box, you may be using an older unsupported browser (Internet Explorer 6). Simply sign in using another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. If you are using an older browser, updating it is also a good idea for the security of your computer.
Is a completion certificate sent to my school?
Your school will be able to tell if you have completed your assignment through their control panel. So unless they specifically told you to print and submit a certificate, you shouldn't have to do anything else.
Where's the Course Verification Tool?
The course verification tool is located on the homepage of www.financialliteracy101.org. Please note that you need to be logged out of your student account to see the tool.
The tool is intended for use by course instructors to verify your participation in the event they don't have access to Financial Literacy 101's administrative control panel. The tool is not for student use, but you can enter your course completion code to see what it's like.
Why do you need my Student ID or other information?
Each school is given a range of options regarding what information to collect from students, including Student ID and phone number. This information is not used by Financial Literacy 101 in any way.
Most schools that require a Student ID use it for marking an assignment as completed in your school's student management system. Phone numbers are useful when schools offer personalized counseling and would need to contact you by phone.
All information transmitted to Financial Literacy 101 at registration is encrypted using industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to better protect your privacy.
What's my access code?
Your access code is a unique code supplied by your school. If you did not receive a code, they may expect you to log in through your student portal account. You should have received some kind of instruction from your school.
If you can't find your code, please contact your school for further instructions. Many schools have more than one code, so it's often hard for us to know the correct code for you - even if we know what school you attend.
What's my password?
Please try our Password Help tool. If your email address is in our database, your password will be emailed to you.
If the password tool can't find your email address, it's possible that there was a typo in your email address at registration. If so, please contact us with your email address and password. We will correct the password and email you a confirmation when complete.
